Bringing flexible seating options into the classroom allows students to shift their focus from the rigid environment that stifles natural movement to a comforting environment that frees them to engage in the academic process. Soft floor cushions and balance ball seats encourage students to find a spot in the classroom that best meets their physical needs reducing their anxiety and increasing their ability to focus on learning while providing different sensory input for different students. The impact of decreasing student stress to increase personal and academic success will follow my students for the rest of their life. I may not be able to create and environment outside of the classroom that is specifically designed with their needs in mind, but I promise to do my very best to create a classroom environment that honors their unique needs to become the most successful student, and citizen that they can be!
