We have seen improved student participation and academic success by students who participate in robotics. However, although our robotics club is open to all students, at this point all members of the club are boys. Because of this, we want to offer a girls robotics club at our school. We hope that by building our girls' confidence in a girls robotics club that eventually girls and boys will be compete on equal footing in a coed robotics club at the high school level. The requested LEGO Windstorm supplies will allow us to found a separate girls robotics club as well as offering additional support to the present club. The students who have participated have learned coding, team work, design cycle, and persistence. By donating to our project we will be able to extend these same benefits to our girl students.
