This year, I want to focus on teaching outside the box and breaking norms that my kids may be used to. Now that I feel comfortable with my content and management skills, I want to explore ways in which I can make my class more fun, safe and structured for my students. Each of these items will be used directly by students throughout the year. Though some of the books are classics, there are quite a few that focus on girls participating in STEM activities, books with a minority girl as the main character and books whose message is directed towards minorities. I feel my students will connect more deeply with these books. I also would like to provide some alternative seating to my students with the disk seating so they have an alternative to working at a desk all day. Lastly, it is my job as an educator to keep my students feeling safe at school. I requested a few items that I hope will make my students feel that way all year. There are some calming toys, food and a timer to provide structure though out the year. Thank you for helping to make my class even better!
