Learning a second language has a lot of challenges. Learning a second language without target language environment has even more challenges. Technology can create or bring in a lot of authentic learning environments for students to practice Chinese. There is none tablet in my classroom. Due to the Chinese learning needs, we need to put Chinese learning apps into the tablet. Right now our Chinese team shares about 20 iPads which have Chinese apps. But we have about 125 Chinese Dual Immersion students learning Chinese at the same time in five different grades at our school. With so many students in this program, it is really hard to schedule enough iPad time for my students to practice Chinese. Your donations for our project will help students to explore a brand new world of learning Chinese. They can listen to the Chinese stories online to practice listening skill. They can read digital Chinese books to practice reading skill. They can write Chinese with hands on the tablet to practice writing skill and we can save a lot of papers and markers. They can response to the Chinese students through the internet to practice speaking skill. They can even do the face to face interactions with other Chinese learner to practice Chinese together. They can also upload their Chinese learning experience at school online as the connection with their parents. Now is 21st Century. We use technology more and more in our life. Foreign language learning will also be connected with technology more and more. This is my fifth year teaching Chinese Dual Immersion in the United States. I didn't use very much technology in my classroom especially for students to practice Chinese in the past four years' teaching. This year I really want to let learning Chinese fly through technology!
