Traditional classroom seating is rigid and restrictive when it comes to allowing movement and sitting still for hours on end is a real challenge for some students. My students that need movement will try to move in their seats no matter what seating they have. I want to provide my students with seats that will allow them to move freely but SAFELY. I have selected a few different seats that I can switch out for each students specific needs. I have included chair bands to give students that need movement in their legs an opportunity to work their legs while at their table seat. I also added chair cushions for students that like to rock in their seat. While they are rocking in traditional chairs they tend to fall over. With the use of the cushions, students can rock safely. Some seats will be added to to the teacher table where students can safely move and wiggle while working on academics with me. I believe having the ability to move about freely is critically important when it comes to being able to focus in the classroom. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
