ACUPOFJOE began as a project for our students. Students of the Intro to Marketing class, who are interested in real-life experience and business operations, were eagerly assigned to the project. This task enabled the students to use their imagination and test their skills to create a business plan, record their fellow peers’ preferences, and research all of the necessary materials needed. Students were able to identify their competition, Dunkin' Donuts, Starbucks, and McDonald's and learn how competition can affect price, quantity, and variety. These students need necessary startup supplies to create a student-run coffee shop. The startup supplies that we are requesting are a stainless steel cart to contain our coffee maker and supplies. We are asking for an Ipad and cover. As a class we have decided that we will use Square, an app compatible with the Ipad, to keep track of our daily sales, real-time inventory, debit/credit transactions, and to allow student interns to clock in and out. We are asking for coffee creamers, cups, straws/stirrers to help get our business started. We will use the income generated from our sales to put back into the business to continue buying these specific supplies. This project will benefit the students immensely by offering them the opportunity of obtaining work and business related skills that they will need for their future jobs. Not only will the students learn how to deal with customers, but they will also learn skills such as money, time, and business management. Students will be able to analyze the impact of education, training, and other factors on productivity and income potential such interpersonal skills, workforce readiness, and ethics.
