My students are kind, inspiring, creative, positive and kinesthetic learners. These are kids working to overcome some great obstacles,. This is a great group of first grade learners. They have a very contagious attitude towards learning. In many instances, these students do not have educational support at home. Often, education in their home and communities is not seen as high priority. My classroom is their positive experience in their educational journey. Most first graders are kinesthetic learners and need to be moving during learning. These students have a wide range of learning needs and I have seen an increase in the amount of students who struggle greatly with the ability to focus. We are a very diverse school with 56.8% of our student body being minority. All of these challenges make learning new concepts difficult for many of my students.
