Students are coming to class with less hands-on interaction with the world around them and more energy. They spend more time on screens than ever before. When students have control over some of their choices, they feel more in control of their world. Having flexible seating for energy release as well as fidget options will help students to focus. Art and science supplies are expensive and usually outside the basic school budget. Watercolors and paper are some of the more engaging and flexible supplies that help connect art with science in the 6th grade curriculum.
