As a teacher, I will utilize the nonfiction books to teach various text features. As for the students, nonfiction is a text that they will use all their life. For example, reading instructions, reading a newspaper, learning new information, etc. It is important that they understand how to read text features and know they will be able to understand these features in the future as needed. Starting this year, our school is implementing a new reading strategy. The main source of this reading strategy will be reading nonfiction books. I have been blessed to have many fiction books in my classroom library, but I desperately need more nonfiction books for my kids.
