You never realize how important choice is to a seven or eight year old till you start working in an elementary classroom! It could be what partner they want to work with, what iPad they want to play on, or even what chair they would like to sit on! It is important to me to provide students with choices throughout our learning day! Having students choose their seating helps to foster student independence. Flexible seating like wobble chairs, dorm chairs and balance balls also allow students to burn more calories, use excess energy, and is known to increase motivation and engagement! No wonder why physical activity and higher academic performance are linked!

About my class
