I want to give my students the privilege to choose where they learn. The items I am requesting will help my students in numerous ways. By allowing my students to sit wherever they choose, they are more likely to be on task and doing the work that is asked of them. This can result in better grades and even happier students. Even as a teacher, I would rather sit on anything but a cold hard chair. By getting my students yoga balls, sensory cushions, floor seats and wiggle seats, they can choose where they will be most comfortable. Flexible classrooms give students a choice in what kind of learning space works best for them, and helps them to work collaboratively, communicate, and engage in critical thinking. I have asked for many seating options that allow my students to continue moving, all while still sitting and staying on task. The wiggle seats, foot rest, cushions, and yoga balls all allow my students who need to move, continue to be able to move without distracting their peers. I also asked for fidget toys as these will allow my students to pay attention to what is being taught, yet still be able to move with little distraction to me and other students. Instead of fingers drumming the table or pencils being tapped, they have a quiet alternative to help them focus.
