Today's classrooms have changed. They no longer consist of direct instruction from the teacher. The every day classroom is now student led and teacher facilitated. It is interactive and minds on/hands on. “If we teach today as we taught yesterday, then we rob our children of tomorrow.” John Dewey. In order for my students to learn to the best of their ability, they must be comfortable in their environment. Over the past two years, my classroom has slowly been implementing flexible seating. We have lawn chairs, rugs, mats, bean bags, and pillows. However, I have many students who would prefer standing to sitting. By providing my students standing desks, students will be able to stand and move as they learn. By donating to my 6th grade class, you will be providing students with the necessary tools needed to reach their full potential in a classroom setting.
