Students will be placed in small reading groups. Together, they will take responsibility for the decisions and direction of the club, as well as discover the pleasure of reading and discussing as a group. They will share the feelings of fear, excitement and suspense with the characters in their books, and with their classmates. At the end of the unit, groups will present the highlights of their book. I know my students will be inspired by their classmates to read several more of these books. These books will excite my students about reading and encourage them to delve further into writing as well. By fulfilling this donation, my students will be able to appropriately and successfully become engaged and respond to our next reading unit; Fantasy Book Clubs. Having students in groups, reading series where they are sharing the same experience builds a greater interest level and further engages all students.
