The use of books and manipulatives is a daily activity in my speech-therapy room. I have many students who are visual-tactile learners and learn best through physically working with materials. My students need books and interactive materials that will help them practice their speech-language skills in a fun and exciting way. My students will use these materials to explore the world through reading and expand their comprehension skills. These books will also allow my students to work on their receptive and expressive language skills, as well as their speech sounds. They will be able to use these books and manipulatives to practice their literacy skills, sequence events, answer questions, and ask questions. I also included laminating pouches, which I use to create adapted materials for my special education classrooms. We read many of the same books, but I create adapted book versions with interactive parts to engage these students. Your generous donation to our project will improve our speech-language therapy room by helping us build our functional and academic communication skills.
