Waianae Elementary School reside on the west end of Oahu, Hawai'i. Students that call this end of the island home, face many difficulties in their lives. Often, the students are struggling to focus in class because they have situations outside of school they are worrying about. Most of the students of the school are exposed to minimal background knowledge to help relate to new concepts taught in the classroom. The students of Waianae Elementary however, are very determined to over come many of the challenges they face and work hard in school to accomplish academic success. They are interested in new things and are willing to try their best. This is my 2nd year teaching at Waianae Elementary and I see very good hearts in these students. My goal is to continue to help them succeed in academics and accomplish their own personal goals.
