This STEM project will focus on using traditional methods and technology to grow seeds and eventually build a garden. Our main goal is to have our students build and take care of a greenhouse from the start. They will build the greenhouse, plant seeds in pots, and water them every day as we measure the garden's progress. My students love to learn through hands-on experiences so we would also love an indoor Aerogarden to incorporate the use of technology. The students will be able to compare and contrast the difference between natural and artificial methods of planting seeds, and they will be able to measure growth and progress on their indoor and outdoor gardens while exploring different plant specimens. We also hope to incorporate a butterfly garden. Lastly, we would like to purchase a compost chamber. In our classroom, we emphasize less waste. This chamber will give the students the opportunity to reuse food waste to make compost soil for our garden. It will be a wonderful hands-on learning experience for this amazing class!
