The materials for our classroom will help with the design, flow and create a conducive learning environment. Piaget believes that all children learn through active exploration of their environment. When the environment is favorable there are more opportunities for children to learn through their daily play. The shelves in our classroom help divide the space so children can comfortably explore the resources around them. It also gives the children a place to independently organize and store their materials. When the children are independent in their play they are able to use higher level language skills. The rug creates a soft surface for the children to use when building with blocks or other floor toys. The outdoor storage unit will not only give the children a place to store the equipment but also keep it safe from the elements. The above materials express to the children that we value their work and want to provide them with a safe learning environment.
Preschool children learn best when their environment is safe and supports independent learning. Every day the children are given time to learn through playing. During this time the children use their language, problem solving, math, literacy and creative arts to express their thoughts and ideas.
