These chairs will enhance the students focus and attention in the classroom, that I strive to develop. My classroom is a place that my students really enjoy and work very hard to learn and grow- despite the challenges that may have. It can be very exhausting for them to concentrate and ignore audio and visual distractions. The math manipulatives allow the students to see and explore number sense skills in multiple avenues. Students in my classroom all have different challenges, some have difficulties with focus and attention, others have writing/fine motor challenges along with academic challenges. This year our schools focus is in math. With these new chairs and math manipulatives, my students will be able to focus and concentrate. A variety of math manipulatives will allow them to learn math number sense skills at their own pace and instructional level. The best way to increase a student’s math skills is for the students to be able to focus and attend during instruction discovery. These chairs will provide the students with the ability to focus and attend; while the manipulatives will expand their reasoning skills and help them grow stronger in math. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in exploring different strategies in math, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the wobble chairs, pencil grips and math manipulatives.
