My students will latch onto a series and read it voraciously. The library tries to keep up with the latest copies and make sure there are no gaps in the storyline. Unfortunately, accidents happen and May of the Calendar Mystery series or Book 2 of a RIck Riordan's series are missing. Often, what my students can pay towards replacement, doesn't cover the actual cost. It is also difficult to keep up with the latest installment of a series with a tight budget and limited ordering opportunities. I don't want the momentum of my readers to slow because they can't get the next title in their favorite series. In most cases, our school library is the only library our students use. This grant will make our top 16 chapter book series current and complete. Our students (generally 2nd-5th read chapter books) will be thrilled to be able to keep up with their favorite characters, and the excitement of reading will not ebb.
