Each year my students venture into the world of musical theatre and study things like vocal health, acting the song, and musical theatre history. A huge component of this course is singing and, as we all know, you can't sing (well) without a piano! Sadly, our dear digital piano bit the dust and I can no longer play for my students. Musical theatre brings the world together, and we just want to be able to play our part. Many may ask, "Why a digital piano?" and for us, the answer is clear: not all voices are created equal. Many of my students are at the beginning stages of their musical theatre adventures, so naturally they don't all have the skill it takes to belt like the Broadway divas. We use a digital piano so that we can learn music that the students enjoy and transpose it on demand to meet the needs of each specific student. We also use our digital piano for our musical productions - digital pianos are more compact and easier to transport for rehearsals, we're able to connect it to a computer to create rehearsal tracks. Having this piano would not only help my students build confidence, but also show off their talent and full potential.
