Group discussion and dialogue is fundamental in a Social Studies classroom. We want trapezoid tables so we can easily push our tables together to form work areas that allow for conversation, debate, and collaboration. These trapezoid chairs can form circles for round-table discussions, semi-circles for forums, and be split for courtroom re-enactments. By donating a table to our classroom you are fostering civic engagement and supporting future critical thinkers of the world! Rectangular desktops, like the ones we have now, are difficult to maneuver and do not close into a circle. A 2013 study, Classroom Seating Considerations for 21st Century Students, states that students engaged more positively in their classrooms while using trapezoid tables. With the proper tools and furniture we can generate lively debate and discussion and have amusing and academic historical re-enactments.
