Several of our special education students will not go on to a higher education. They are in need of learning simple, yet important life skills. Our goal is to offer our students an environment which incorporates many of these life skills through cooking. Through cooking, students will be able to practice reading, math, organizing and working with others. Within this class, we will also be setting up a small cafe. Once a week the students will take lunch orders from teachers, prepare the meals and then deliver the orders. The materials requested, including the shelving and storage units, will be used to store and organize our kitchen supplies. The folding table will be used to prepare food on. Students will learn valuable skills by learning to use and serve others with the pitcher, juicer, blender and espresso machine. With your help, our students will learn self-confidence and self-reliance. Skills that ultimately will help them to become productive members of society.
