This year our school district is putting a strong emphasis on phonics skills. As a result, the Phonics Activity Center will allow the students to practice the skills independently. The phonics cubes will be another way that the students can manipulate letters to make words. These activities will help our students become better readers in a fun setting. The phonics and reading materials that we are requesting will help our low income inner city first graders increase their reading levels. The sight word readers will provide opportunities for students to view sight words embedded in text. The readers will also help to increase the students fluency.
