By obtaining Scholastic News, my students would have the opportunity to utilize the skills they have learned thus far by applying them to Non-Fiction Text. The activities and prompts as well as the online resources are of great value to today's children. Scholastic News is written in such a way that today's children can understand and learn the domain specific vocabulary associated with the given topic(s). It practices all of the skills my 4th graders use, and also gives them the opportunity to annotate in the text. It also allows for opportunities for at home, family discussions because they can take this resource home and access it from the internet anywhere with a simple code! This is the break they need from the text books to get our class discussions started on current events. This resource is great for this time of year! Please help!
