I am working to add more picture books into our 3rd grade classrooms. This year the 3rd grade staff joined me in a challenge to read a picture book a day. Each morning, we read aloud a picture book in our class to set the tone for the day and promote the joy of reading. Students rate the book and share what the book was REALLY about. We briefly discuss the theme and then post a picture of the book cover on our wall showing a grid of all the picture books we have read. What a great way to start the day, learn valuable lessons, expand vocabulary, explore a variety of themes, and share the joy of reading! This project turns my learners into readers. By having the books available in my classroom, the kids will be able read them over and over again. Please consider supporting our readers and future leaders.
