Funding of this project will provide my students with alternate types of seating. These seats are specifically designed for kids who have a difficult time focusing or staying put in their seats. These helpful self-regulation seating devices provide subtle movement input (gentle bouncing and/or rocking) without getting up from your seat! Wiggle seats will not necessarily cure a child’s need to move, it helps them meet that need while simultaneously allowing them to learn more like their peers. It’s there to make the child’s struggle with learning in a general education setting easier. The calming (or alerting) movement input makes it easier for many children to focus in the classroom. The stools help with focusing, while developing balance skills and trunk control. The seat cushions offer gentle rocking vestibular input and a calming, deep pressure hugging effect. The rug allows the students a place to stretch, and a safe place to incorporate techniques from therapy.
