My project is STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) based. They will learn how to manipulate open ended materials to build and explore. This project will help my students develop their brain for necessary critical and analytical thinking. "Toys" like Legos and gears and different building materials like magna-tiles and trains are open-ended and activity based learning- essential process oriented skills necessary for the next generation worker. Child friendly microscopes will help them have concrete learning experiences as opposed to abstract information dictated-why learn about a germ, when you can see it!I will have project cards to guide and push learning for all of these center activities. I would also like to exposing my young students to digital photography for special events- photos documenting activities from their perspective! Lastly, PreK in my building is without a playground currently. Though we play many games, I am hoping to build up a closet of enough play toys for recess to challenge their physical muscles- the brain and the body both need exercise!
