I want my class to see first hand how easy and important it is to recycle everything you can. I teach a 4th grade class in a hot, dry area of our state that has terrible natural soil. This project will help my students become aware of the idea of recycling their vegetable and plant waste. Right now their idea of recycling only means collecting cans, plastics, or newspapers. I want them to witness how important and easy it is to make "black gold" out of their leftovers, fallen leaves, and other organic matter that usually ends up in the dumpster.
