Alternative seating is becoming very popular with teachers. Students are eager to move around every second of the day. I have noticed in my classroom my students are no different. My students prefer to stand or sit in their chair in a non-traditional way. I have taught students the importance of sitting correctly in their seats and I have figured out that my students could really benefit from alternative seating. They already face many challenges in and out of the classroom and alternative seating will definitely help decrease some of the challenges they are facing in the classroom. My students are always looking for a way to get their wiggles out and this is the easiest way to do that while still having them focus on their learning. With these choices students can bounce lightly on balls, have a wide range of leg movement with the stools and move their bodies around quietly on the Wobble stools all while learning. This allows students a chance to get away from the boring typical desks and chairs. They get to get their energy out all while still staying seated and engaged in their learning. I have already tried this out with yoga balls and my students loved it so I would love to incorporate more seating options in the classroom to help them reach their fullest potential.
