Science is a much more interesting subject when you get to experience it firsthand. Many of my students are English Language Learners who struggle with making connections with abstract concepts like centrifugal force and gravity, and, therefore, they tend to get lost and lose focus during science. The centrifugal force experiment is a highly interactive and visual tool all my students, including those who are ELL, will use to understand what gravity is, the factors that affect its strength, and the interaction between those factors. These students need many visual and hands-on opportunities to experiment with these factors in order to understand the concept of gravity. My students will love being able to experience this phenomenon up close!
