My students are part of a low-income/high poverty school district and are faced with challenges here at school, as well as at home. My classroom was created in the middle of the school year in order to reduce classroom size and increase learning for the students. Many of the students speak English as a second language and a few speak very little English at all. The boys and girls in my class enjoy reading and crave positive attention. Most of these students are being raised in single parent house holds and all students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch. My hope is to create a classroom where these children love coming each and every day. By creating a safe place for learning, I can open their eyes to a different world than what they are being raised in. There are a few things my students have been asking for that the school has not been able to provide so I am reaching out to other resources.
