Allowing students to have individualized book bins, will give them a sense of pride while reading! Students, especially when new to school, love the chance to have a little place in the room that they call home. My students would love having the chance to keep all of their favorite emergent reader texts and library picks in one place. The bins would allow each child to keep a variety of texts to choose from and make reading a bit more exciting for them! Students would also put lap desks to use in a variety of ways. Our school uses the workshop model, which implements the use of guided reading, math, and writing groups. For major subjects such as these, students can get to a comfortable place in the room and get to work!
