My classroom is the library media center at the International School of Beaverton, or ISB, which is a public, option school in the Beaverton School District. The school was opened in 2006 and is known for academic excellence. According to the school website, there are 855 students at ISB in grades 6-12. 53% of the students identify as minorities and 20% qualify for free or reduced lunch. All students participate in rigorous International Baccalaureate classes in all subject areas. The school also offers the International Baccalaureate, IB, diploma program to juniors and seniors, which allows them to take collegiate level classes in high school and provides an opportunity to earn college credits while in high school. ISB students also participate in the Advancement Via Individual Determination, AVID, program, which strives to provide academic support for 1st generation college bound students.
