Teachers can use these materials to give our youngest scholars early coding experiences that can impact achievement. While outdated standards "could" have been addressed with tech, our new standards require technology competency. However, not all our students have early childhood computer experiences. Research shows that the "digital divide" has very real consequences on student success. Our kids will use these code-a-pillar toys in duos and small groups, in centers, and as a whole class and individually, to explore coding and critical thinking. Students will begin with an inquiry model based on open exploration, and then we can move onward with deliberate "challenge" tasks for the kids to complete.
