The materials requested in this project will be used in an intervention room to help students who need a calm down spot or a spot to focus on their sensory needs. It's becoming well known that educators need to focus on the whole child and their sensory needs are not given enough support. This room will allow me to teach students self-regulation strategies of requesting a break in a positive setting where they will get choice in activities to help settle their minds and bodies to refocus them for classroom learning. The materials selected provide a variety of strategies to target fine and gross motor skills with an emphasis on mindfulness.
