Students learn in different ways and providing them flexible seating options would promote engagement and provide opportunities to flourish by meeting their needs. I would like to offer my students flexible seating in our classroom. My students are full of energy and require movement to keep working and stay focused. It is difficult to work and focus when you are sitting on hard plastic chairs all day. Having flexible seating (wobble chairs and balance discs) would provide my students the choice to choose a space that works best for them and allow them movement without disrupting others. As a first year teacher, I cannot afford to fund a comfortable and inviting seating options for my students to help them work and learn.
My second graders need to get their wiggles out while learning. The items I am requesting will provide my active students a comfortable seating while getting their wiggles out. These items will also provide some of my student’s sensory input and help calm them when they are having difficulties. My student’s ability to learn and focus will improve with the seating options available to them and help channel their energy discretely.
