Students will learn of a seminal event in American History by reading the novel Lions of Little Rock. From this book they will see the world from someone else perspective. They will see into the world of 1958 in a governor chose to close rather than integrate black and white children. This new perspective will make them more flexible and engaged citizens. The book will be read in class along with 2 other novels on the topic. Students will learn how to discuss race in order to improve opportunities for us all. the novel shows students what it was like for the students when the integrated schools reopened.
