During the regular school day I teach math, writing, & social studies in 5th grade & after school I teach 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, & 5th graders through various activities including classes such as Homework Help, Cooking Club, Chromebook Club, iPad Fun, Arts & Crafts etc. My students are my kids & I would do anything I can to help them feel they have a support system & someone in their corner. The majority of my students come from low income families, many of them need a safe place to turn to. This is why I try to make my classroom as homey, cozy, & welcoming as possible with lamps, fabrics, curtains, & bits of home. The result is students enjoying their time in my classroom & feeling like they are in a warm caring environment. I want my students to love school as much as I did & to know that they are important! That being said, I believe there is always room for improvement which is where Donors Choose comes in.
