Having this set of novels will allow my students to learn from an engaging piece of literature and experience the joy of reading. Our current class sets of novels are torn, falling apart, and missing pages; some sets are more than 20 years old. These old copies can hardly be used. Without class novel sets, our study of literature is limited to short stories that can be found online. This novel sparked my own love of reading in 6th grade and hopefully can ignite that same spark in my students. Providing each student with an individual copy of the novel will also allow students to complete readings at home which frees up valuable time in class for discussions and learning activities.
