Middle school Career Explorations students can experience application of core subject knowledge to workplace scenarios through Project Based Learning in my class. About 100 students each semester explore 16 career pathways over three years in order to determine how their interests, values and learning styles can put them on a path in high school that will lead to a successful career. Emphasis is placed on developing the soft skills that employers seek out - communication, teamwork, adaptability - and life skills such as money management, resume writing and interviewing for a job. My goal for these students is that they are able to set attainable life goals because they have been exposed to the endless career options that exist in the 21st century workplace.
