The use of manipulatives help students better understand math. A lot of students at kinesthetic learners need to see and use objects to better understand their mathematical thinking. My students will be able to demonstrate to themselves and others their mathematical thinking. These manipulative will allow the abstract thinking in math to meet the students concrete thinking. This will allow them to learn and understand the math problems better. My students have found when they are able to use the manipulatives their understanding becomes clearer. Students grow in their understanding and belief in themselves as mathematical thinkers with the help of these types of manipulatives.
