In kindergarten we spend most of the day engaged in structured, scheduled learning. My students always look forward to the time devoted to open-ended play using building and STEM related materials. I currently have a few sets of building materials in my classroom, but for health and safety precautions, it is being asked that materials be used on an individual or small group basis. The materials I am requesting would allow more students to participate in activities tailored to their interests during free time. They love creating and building with open-ended materials, such as the Clip & Create Builders, as well as more directed materials such as the Snap-Bots. My students have also become so excited about their creations they have been saving them and been working on them for multiple days at a time, as well as received journals to sketch their ideas, and write about their final projects to take home and share with their families.
