A special education classroom is the best set up for alternative seating because of the kids. It has been proven that motion and movement help kids' brains work, and yet setting a classroom up for this is very difficult and expensive. Allowing my students to have options of seating will allow them to decide what works best for their bodies and minds. There will be no more "sit down" in my classroom, it will be "find your way to learn." Having ownership in their own style of learning is my goal! Kids need to be able to understand there own learning style and many times it isn't what the standard student learning used to be. Kids fidget, rock, twirl and yet learning is still occurring. Stability balls, wobble chairs, and floor cushions will allow my kids to be able to wiggle and wobble in the classroom. Children will not be sitting in seats anymore! It will be exciting to see which method each child finds as "their way"!
