My students are hard-working team-players. Despite attending what is considered a low-income Milwaukee city school, they regularly demonstrate empathy for each other and drive to improve their community. My classroom is full of diverse cultures. I get to teach alongside many special needs students as well as many Asian and African refugees. I teach various English classes, including American Authors, Advanced Placement Literature, Women's Literature, British Literature, Culinary Arts, and my personal pride and joy: Graphic Novels and Sequential Art. I enjoy bringing interactive team-building activities regularly into my classroom and take time each week to do activities that build classroom camaraderie. I enjoy bringing students out to a Ropes and Challenge course in fall and spring to build student confidence and compassion. Each year students present projects at U of Wisconsin on Great World Texts they've read
