Students in my chemistry class work through several different types of math problems throughout the semester. Having a scientific calculator that they can use each day without having to always borrow from someone would mean less class time is spent finding a calculator and then returning it. Students will learn how to calculate using a variety of different methods and will utilize the calculators every day in class. Having the same calculator available each day would minimize the time needed to reteach how to use the calculator as well, since not all calculators function the same. This would enable us to cover more material in class to better prepare the students for college.
