Our High School is known for their strong traditions. One of those traditions is allowing advanced art students to paint a mural on wall panels at our campus. Our school is in the process of being torn down and built completely from the bottom up. Part of the construction process includes tearing down a set of over 20 mural panels our art students have created over the years. Although we are excited about having a brand new school, during the building process our entire campus will be housed in portables for the next two years. Even though we cannot save our past murals, the Art Department would like to continue its tradition of painting murals. We would like to use the Nova Gel/Canvas Mural method to continue our tradition during this difficult time. The method consists of painting the murals on gesso canvas instead of a wall structure. The canvas allows the painting to be mobile and can be hung anywhere, like a portable, using various installation methods that are as temporary as hanging it with rope like a banner or using Nova Gel to permanently install it on a wall, like on our new campus. The murals would consist of the following 3 themes, showcasing students' artistic skills, illustrating students' creative writing poems, and various campus imagery.
