Sixty, elementary boys (first through third grade) are matched up with sixty, high school boys (ninth through twelfth grade) in a school based mentoring program. They meet once a month during the school day throughout the school year to do a common activity. The activities usually are focused on a social emotional lesson. The boys start their time together with fun worksheets to work on together and talk. The group then does one activity together. The activity is brought to a close with boys all given a snack together and we emphasize using their manners. Our program is not funded by the school. We look for grants and donations to fund our program. Our budget consist of busing the elementary boys to the high school each month, snacks and basic supplies. We try and find activities that do not require money. However, we are in need of updating our basic supplies as we have broken crayons and missing supplies. Our first activity of each year is the elementary and high school boys creating a t-shirt together with fabric markers. Any help with our list of items would help off set the cost of our program.
