Kindergarten is a prime year for learning, forming friendships, learning to collaborate, and developing kindness and compassion! Children’s developmental stages and abilities vary tremendously. It is important that educators recognize individual needs of students and ensure that these are being met. A conducive environment for fostering development in all domains is very important. A learning environment must be within an atmosphere that makes children feel comfortable, welcome, and safe. I aim to fill my classroom with items that are developmentally appropriate to help foster fine motor development, physical development, social development, emotional development, and cognitive development. There are a variety of ways students learn best and I want to be able to provide options in meeting those different needs. From collaboration tables, to yoga balls, stools, mats, chairs, and everything in between, I want my classroom to be a place for our students to move, learn, dream, create, and imagine!
