The gardening supplies I requested will provide opportunities for inner-city kids to develop a love of gardening and care for their environment. Each part of this project is a learning experience. The soil, seeds, and tools will transform or tired gardens into beautiful learning spaces for our community to enjoy. We will grow the seeds in our classrooms and observe them as they grow . The whole school and community will come together to prepare the garden beds and plant. Students will visit the gardens during school time to enjoy the green space and observe the flowers, herbs, and vegetables. Many of the plant species we are will grow (milkweed and Purple Coneflower) are food sources for endangered pollinators like Monarch butterflies and native honeybees.
