Having current, relevant, high-interest books is a critical component to choice reading in my classroom. In conferencing with my students, most of them want to read more. However, they often don't feel like they have time to read. I believe for the most part that they would make time for reading if they found a book they could not put down. These are the types of books I hope to bring into my classroom through this project. My goal is to help each of my students navigate their reading journey, and I hope that by the end of the year they begin to identify with being a reader. I want them to have an awareness of what makes them want to stop everything they're doing and continue reading their book. By giving them access to choice books they can improve their reading stamina, their reading comprehension, and most importantly begin to develop a positive relationship with reading instead of associating it with the feeling of dread.
